Ekida Laurie—Contemporary Ekida gradpad

Ekida Laurie graduated from Kyung Hee University dance program in Korea, and went to the Netherlands to dance with the NDT 1 Company. She has also performed and presented her choreographic work on various other stages across the world, including Korea, Japan, Belgium, England, Canada and the USA. She has taught modern dance at the Canadian School of Ballet, and delivered Company classes for the ZUZI Dance Company in Arizona. Then, when she moved to Lincoln, she was appointed guest artist at University of Nebraska where she stayed for three years and had a chance to work with Jennifer Nugent, Jenna Riegel from Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company (NYC), Kendra Portier from David Dorfman Dance Company (NYC), and Kayvan Pourazar from independent horeographer (NYC). She also used to perform as a member of Slo Dance in Lincoln directed by Susan Levin Ourada. In 2015 Ekida started her own company based in Cambridge, U.K. called Collective Arts Movement cic. The company collaborates with many local artists and scientists.

Trained at Bush Davies School and Andrew Hardie’s Dance College, London. Professional dancer in The Love Machine and Arlene Phillip’s Hot Gossip, Kenny Everett TV show. Dancer in Can’t Stop the Music with The Village People MGM studios L.A. Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life Assistant choreographer to Arlene Phillips Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express. Dance tutor at King’s College school Cambridge. Currently exploring dance on film. AISTD Modern dance teacher qualification BA Dance Studies Degree Middlesex university 2012.

FREE Open Contemporary Dance Workshop with Elevate Dance Company

ELEVATE Dance Company (apprentice to Springs Dance Company, in our network) are coming to Cambridge and leading this one off workshop as part of City Church’s creative arts initiative inspiring CREATIVELife@City. Following the workshop will be a chance to ask questions of the Elevate dancers and hear how creativity and faith connect for them.
Wear trainers and comfortable clothing and come ready to be inspired!

Queen’s College Contemporary Dance Workshop

Dan Cossette will be offering a special 1.5 hour workshop at Queen’s College.

4-5:30pm, 9th October.

The open level adult Modern and Contemporary class, will examine a fusion of Graham and Limon techniques, to create moving lines through space as initiated from the core and connected to emotion. Contact Ania at the QCCD Society for more info: amg86@cam.ac.uk

Don’t miss Dan Cossette at Cambridge’s wonderful Buskers and Street Performers Festival. The City Centre will be hopping with live entertainment! Programs are available from the Guildhall to follow the action throughout the day in the Centre and on Parker’s Piece. Vote for your favorites, and tip them too!

Catch Dan’s street mime at outside the Lion’s Yard, halfway down Petty Cury from 12:00-13:00, and again at Fisher Square (near the Corn Exchange) 14:00-15:00!
