  • Infusion was pleased to have been involved with the Wandsworth Arts Fringe, dancing for our colleague group E33 Dance Company this past weekend. Director (and long time friend!) Rachel Riveros brilliantly re-staged the contemporary ballet/capoiera fusion Somewhere in the Middle, complete with live musicians and international dance artists. Our own Daniel Cossette reprised his original roll (from 2014) in the lively and beautifully-designed work once more, as well as featuring in a number of smaller works.

Infusion’s Melanie Cossette presented “The Sound of Silence,” a dance by American choreographer Randall Flinn (Ad Deum Dance Company, Houston, TX) in the subsequent Creative Soul Spa. Here workshops participants engaged in a multi-sensory “arts spa.” Pop-up style dance performances fell between fine arts and dance workshops, with gaps to hang out in a chill out room,  and receive hand massage–refreshment for soul, body, and mind. One audience member said, “Thank you. Your dance reminded me I’m not alone the silences.”

  • Infusion is pleased to have Dan’s Cossette’s new work-in-progress Brickies being presented as part of the Queen’s College Contemporary Dance Society’s annual showcase, Sprung! Look for two excerpts from this new work about brick layers and skilled laborers. Enjoy an eclectic collaboration of artists as they come together for an evening of dance films, class demos, street dance, spoken word, and especially… contemporary dance performances!

In its 20th year, Sprung promises to be a celebration of the many wonderful and diverse years of artistic richness presented through the platform. Come join the celebration and be inspired, including works by Queen’s College dancer-in-Residence Adéle Thompson the Shipping Forecast, and the Art of the Short Story.

  • First Manoeuvres

Infusion is pleased to have been selected to contribute to the Cambridge Junction’s scratch night First Manoeuvres! A platform to encourage and create exposure for dance and theatre makers in the Cambridge area, the Junction’s Troop Artist Development program does just that. Infusion’s Daniel Cossette was chosen to present a new work-in-progress, a dance piece exploring the skilled labor shortage, and challenging modern conceptions of blue collar labor, specifically that of brick layers. The new piece, Brickies, is both playful and poetic, and will be shown on Feb 27th, 18:30 at the Junction, along with two other presenting artists. Look us up, and come along to support!

  • Breaking the Mould

Infusion was pleased, once again, to be a part of Breaking the Mould, a suite of dances choreographed by Hilary Goodall. The suite is a 4-part movement response to a series of sculptures by Dame Elizabeth Frink. Initially performed last February on site in the Heong Gallery, Downing College, Cambridge, the dance received wonderful reviews from audience members, as the dancers moved between the sculptures themselves, interpreting the pent up movement of the bronze works, and bringing them to life.

Following that we were honored to have the dancers reunite at our July dance café, in Trumpington Cambridge! The dancers performed against the dramatic background of projected light and images of the sculptures, making striking shadow versions of the statues themselves.

Finally in December the group came together to bring the work to the iconic Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, Norwich UK. Performing amongst the statues once again, in perhaps the largest collection of Frink works ever assembled, the dances received glowing reviews, including the exhibit curators, who said they would never view the sculptures the same way again!

Special thanks to Hilary Goodall for including us in this brilliant project. We look forward to where else these sculptures take us, moving through the stillness…!
